Selecting suitable shaw hardwood flooring

Shaw hardwood flooring offers home owners the classic tradition of hardwood flooring from a wide variety of sizes, colors and species.  This type of flooring is available in both solid and engineered type to provide lasting style and impression. The engineered hardwood design for this type of flooring is however changing quite so fast such that it’s hard to tell which one is there to stay and which one is history.

Shaw hardwood flooring designs have a variety, including the solid classic narrow strip floors. This design is still as popular as it used to be when grandparents’ homes were being constructed. So when it comes to selecting a design for your house, which one do you go for and what should make you select a particular design ad not the other. A review of the Shaw hardwood flooring options can perhaps answer some of these questions.

Shaw solid hardwood flooring

The solid wood is produced from a 0.75” thick piece of hardwood.  This type of Shaw hardwood flooring is very sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity of the floor. They usually expand and contract as the temperature and humidity around them change. Therefore, during their installation, they are acclimatized to the prevailing conditions of the floor for a period of at least three days. Additionally, when installers make the installations, the expansion and contraction are accommodated for by leaving a small gap between the wall and the floor. Base molding is typically used to conceal the additional space.

Shaw engineered hardwood flooring

This type of hardwood flooring is purposely made for long life performance. It is much better than the solid type as it can be used under all types of conditions prevailing in the floor. It is constructed from wood fibers which have been bonded together through proprietary chemistry. It basically consists of four layers bonded together to withstand all the climate challenges and fluctuations.

The top layer basically consists of the design, while the bottom layer is built with strength to resist all changes of weather elements including temperature and humidity. It is built to resist denting up to 30% more than its counterpart. Its manufacture is environmentally friendly because it is made from recycled wood fibers hence fewer trees are cut to produce it.

Before making a decision on which to choose, it is advisable to look into a few more details other than their physical properties. Check the location of your hardwood flooring. The hardwood flooring basically falls into three categories. There is the on grade which is at ground level, above grade which is any second level and lastly below grade which is any floor below the ground level including basements.
