How to make your own shaggy rugs

• Old cotton t shirts with different shades
• A cutting board
• Rotary cutters
• Rug mat
• Chop stick

The cutting board and the rotary cutters will help you cut the cotton t shirts into required strips and they also make the cutting process faster and easier.

Steps:

Cut off the hems, shoulders and sleeves of the cotton t- shirts and discard them, cut thin straight strips and finally cut each strip into four pieces.

From the edge of the mat, push the pieces of cloth into place using a chop stick and you have to ensure that you work from the back side of the rug. Push the other end of the pieces of cloth into one hole of the mat skipping one hole. Repeat the process over and over again until you get the required size.

The next thing is to flip over the rug mat and tie the ends together using a single knot but you have to ensure that you alternate each knot such that the left one falls over the right and vice versa. Doing this helps create a flawless shaggy rug.

Tie each of the pieces randomly mixing different colors in order to get a nice and neat finish, fold the edges of the mat towards the back of the rug and you can definitely hold them in place using a duct tape.
